On December 06, second professional seminar was co-organized by AGKN to discuss the latest challenges of smart logistics. The event attracted over 50 participants from Germany, Vietnam and China. There were three speeches from business and two speeches from academia. The event was virtually hosted by IU – International University of Applied Sciences. Two digital professional seminars 2022 are project events of GreenSilk, a four year project with the support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Ms. Yu-Hege from Greatview Aseptic Packaging Manufacturing GmbH, a consumer packaging company based in Halle (Saale), Germany, shared her perspectives on disruptions-related logistics challenges for a global value chain (click to download slides).

Mr. Zander from the University of Bremen presented an overview of the need for adaptive digital solutions to support smart factory integration in the construction engineering sector, with the goal of achieving more energy-efficient and refurbished buildings (click to download slides).

Mr. Sternel, co-founder of reBox GmbH, a secondary packaging start-up based in Germany, emphasized the importance of sustainable and smart solutions for the last mile in logistics. He introduced the key selling points of reusable secondary packaging and highlighted the main challenges associated with reverse logistics (click to download slides).

Dr. Xu from Zhongyuan University of Technology (Zhengzhou, China) presented project results demonstrating how smart logistics can facilitate a seamless connection between urban consumers and rural farmers, specifically in the context of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG).

Ms. Ung from Viettel Group, a multinational telecommunications company headquartered in Hanoi, Vietnam, highlighted the numerous potentials of using Big Data in logistics, supported by case studies from Vietnam. She emphasized that a data-oriented design of logistics networks offers a significant competitive advantage.
