The Shipping and Trade Alliance for Research (STAR) was established to promote the Journal of Shipping and Trade (JST). It is a global network created to address current and emerging issues in shipping and trade, as identified by global market players and public institutions through rigorous collaborative research. STAR serves as a platform for advancing the knowledge frontier in shipping and trade by leveraging the research expertise and resources of its member institutions.

STAR is closely associated with the Journal of Shipping and Trade (JST), which publishes academic papers covering a wide range of topics, including shipping economics, trade and economic development, transport management, global port management, regional studies, environmental management in shipping and trade, business model development, and other related topics.

src-logoThe STAR was encouraged by the co-founding member of AGKN e.V. – the Shipping Research Centre (SRC) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). The SRC is a multi-disciplinary research unit comprising a group of active scholars with diverse and in-depth expertise in shipping and logistics management. The SRC serves as an agent to facilitate collaboration between academic researchers and industrial practitioners to generate solutions to the shipping industry’s problems, to develop state-of-the-art business models, and to promote the adoption of innovative management practices in the shipping and related industries.
