The Shipping and Trade Alliance for Research (STAR) was formed for the promotion of the Journal of Shipping and Trade (JST). It is a global network established to address current and emerging issues in shipping and trade as raised by global market players and public bodies through rigorous collaborative research. STAR serves as a vehicle for advancing the knowledge frontier of shipping and trade by leveraging the research expertise and resources of STAR members.
STAR is associated with the Journal of Shipping and Trade (JST). JST publishes papers covering shipping economics, trade and economic development, transport management, global port management, regional studies, environmental management in shipping and trade, business model development, and other related topics.
The STAR was encouraged by the co-founding member of AGKN e.V. – the Shipping Research Centre (SRC) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). SRC is is a multi-disciplinary research unit comprising a group of active researchers with diverse and profound expertise in shipping and logistics management. The SRC serves as an agent to facilitate collaboration between academic researchers and industrial practitioners to generate solutions to the shipping industry’s problems, to develop state-of-the-art business models, and to promote the adoption of innovative management practices in the shipping and related industries.
